Today was a blessing in disguise. While I will not lie and say cleaning the house after a small kitchen fire was fun, it was done happily because it could have been so much worse.
My dog Loki decided to cook the corn that I left in a plastic bag on the stove. We came home at lunch and found a small fire on the stove under the pile of corn. Several ears of corn were burned to ash and the stove had burned plastic on it. There were husks floating around in the swirl of the ceiling fan - black, burnt pieces everywhere.
Luckily the weight of the corn along with the moisture kept it very minimal. I'm still in shock and the house still smells. But we were very fortunate and feel blessed to have escaped what 'could have been'.
Other than that, it is the usual around here. We have a sick cat who seems to be sick due to stress. LOL, get in line, Mjollnir! Unfortunately, he has been plucking his hair and having behaviorial issues so he may be looking at a form of antianxiety pills to see if we can remedy the situation. Typical - so many places to spend money but the animals are at the top of the list :)
We are back into full swing with schooling and our major studies are Real-Science-4-Kids and Story of the World along with their other subject workbooks. G is doing a seperate unit of wolves. F is in to baking and cooking so I'm all about encouraging that in her! I loves to play and his imagination and sharing abilities wow me. Little F is running - she decided to skip walking- and just loves to love!
We escaped for a mini-vacation at the end of July to WI for the Ren Faire. Had a fabulous time and had tons and tons of family around which made it absolutely perfect! The costumes turned out really well and everyone had a good time and even stayed healthy too!
